Hi all,
Cherokee here with a what's up with the wind at Isabella this year??

I have been stopped about every other time I have tried to go fishing this year, very disappointing to drive all the way there and see that the wind has picked up from the reports I get before hand online, to the point where you know as soon as you launch your boat you will have to get right back off the lake, or find a cove and settle into it for a confined days fishing in a small area
Or just leave the boat on the trailer and go to the shoreline and fight the wind knots in my reel, and the lack of fish close to the shore, if it sounds like I need a little cheese with my wine please forgive me

Just cannot figure out why we are getting so many unsettled days at the lake, the normal pattern used to be get there early get your fishing done before 11:00 AM clean your fish and be home drinking a cold one watching the NASCAR race the rest of the afternoon
I guess on the plus side of things there are a few positive things to consider as an outcome of the lack of fishing pressure this year, first being that the crappie and the rest of the fish species all had a confusing spawn this year, warm then cold, time after time, then about the time it starts to warm a little the run off from the tons of snow pack we have in the upper mountains comes ripping into the lake with freezing cold water to confuse them some more.
Allot of the fish I have managed to catch lately appear as thought they have released their eggs, some of them appear to have absorbed them back into their bodies looked as though the eggs were dissolving inside the fish, this is evidence to me that the fish were trying to hold out for the shallow warm water to spawn and didn't make in time and finally gave up trying and just went back out to deeper water to find the nearest thermocline and chill.
This could have a declining numbers effect on the fish for the next year or so, I have spoke to a couple of the locals around Isabella about this and they assured me that the fish will most likely spawn again in the fall when conditions are right for it, so maybe nothing to be concerned about after all

I guess if you are into sailing the conditions are and have been awesome this year
Well I feel a little better spewing some steam off about the seemingly relentless windy conditions at the lake

sorry for not having a great fish report for you all, but hopefully I will very soon
Enjoy the cooler weather this summer!
